We are proud to announce that Said Dokins and Roberto Palma are part of the official selection of the Video Mapping Awards, one of the most prestigious international video mapping competitions in the world, held in Lille, France as part of the IBSIC Festival.

The selected piece was activated at Laboratorio Arte Alameda as part of Said Dokins’ solo exhibition Inscripciones. The work emerged from an extended process of urban research and archival exploration: through a series of displacements across Mexico City, tracing streets, historical records, and the living memory of the Historic Center, Said Dokins constructed a large-scale mural over the course of nearly one month. A slow, accumulative act of writing where each mark condensed time, territory, and collective memory.

Roberto Palma then activated the mural through laser technology, choreographing a series of light refractions that transformed the painted surface into a fully immersive experience. Writing became a luminous body. The architectural space became a living archive.

The result is a dialogue between calligraphy, urban history, light, and space —a piece that questions the boundaries between mural painting, immersive installation, and video mapping.

The Video Mapping Festival, held in Lille, France, is one of the world’s leading events dedicated to the art of video mapping and immersive projections. Now in its 9th edition, it brings together artists, technologists, and researchers from across the globe to push the boundaries of light, space, and narrative.

As part of the festival, the IBSIC, International Blur Symposium & Immersive Conference, serves as the academic and professional backbone of the event: a platform for critical dialogue, research presentations, and industry exchange around immersive arts, spatial computing, and experiential design. It is where artists and thinkers converge to define the future of immersive culture.

The Video Mapping Awards is the festival’s official competition, recognizing the most outstanding video mapping productions of the year.
